How AI credits are calculated
AI credits are an in-app unit consumed by operation type, not raw token counts from OpenAI or other providers. The examples below show how credits decrease for common workflows.
Chat / LLM
1 request = 1 AI credit
Credit usage is counted per message sent, regardless of input length or output tokens.
Example: sending 4 chat messages uses 4 AI credits.
Text to Speech
1 request = 1 AI credit
Text to Speech is counted by generation runs, not by character count.
Example: generating 2 audio previews uses 2 AI credits.
Speech to Text
1 request = 1 AI credit
Speech transcription uses 1 credit per conversion, regardless of audio length.
Example: recording and transcribing 5 times uses 5 AI credits.
Embeddings / Indexing
1 input = 1 AI credit
Batch requests consume credits by item count, with a minimum usage of 1 credit.
Example: embedding 3 documents together uses 3 AI credits.
